The following is a list of unnamed characters in the Chronicles of Ancient Darkness series. These characters are usually mentioned in the series, but do not have enough information to warrant a page.
Wolf Brother[]
Wolf's family[]
- Wolf's father, mother, and three brothers are killed in a flash flood from the Fastwater when Wolf is three moons old. Only Wolf survives after exploring above their den when the flood hits, though he is confused why his family is not moving and smells of Not-Breath.[1][2]
Fa's father[]
- Since it is forbidden to speak a dead person's name for five summers after they die, Torak tells Fin-Kedinn his father's parents. Fa's father was from Wolf Clan.[3]
Fa's mother[]
- Since it is forbidden to speak a dead person's name for five summers after they die, Torak tells Fin-Kedinn his father's parents. Fa's mother was from Seal Clan.[3] Torak later tells the Seal Clan Leader, Islinn, his father's mother, and Islinn recognizes her name. She gave Torak's father the blade to create his knife.[4]
Boar Clan hunter[]
- During the clan meet, Torak spots a Boar Clan man with broad shoulders and an enormous throwing axe. Renn explains that the Boar Clan man thinks they should build a fire wall to drive the demon bear towards the Sea.[5]
Red Deer Clan hunter[]
- During the clan meet, Torak spots a woman with long nut-brown hair with one lock at the temple matted with red earthblood ocre. Renn explains that she's unsure what the Red Deer Clan member thinks they should do about the demon bear. She's unfamiliar with Torak's mother.[5]
Auroch Clan hunter[]
- During the clan meet, Torak spots a wild-eyed girl with yellow clay plastered on her skull to give the appearance of oak bark. Renn explains how the Auroch Clan member believes they should just pray to the World Spirit to get rid of the demon bear.[5]
Oslak and Vedna's son[]
- While Raven Clan travels to find Torak and Renn, the demon bear attacks and kills two members, including Oslak and Vedna's son. Oslak tells this to Renn, who immediately recognizes the river clay markings on his face.[6] Torak notices the same markings on Vedna's face. When he comments to Renn that he suspects that Vedna doesn't like him, Renn explains that the bear killed her son and she was originally making new clothes for him before he died.[7]
Spirit Walker[]
Willow Clan Mage[]
- While hunting, Renn meets the Willow Clan Mage. He warns her that he's been reading the bones for three days and they've warned him that something is coming.[8]
Forest Horse Clan Leader[]
- After Torak kills a boar, he is confronted by members of Forest Horse Clan, including its Leader. She has a narrow face and hazel eyes. Her hair was long and brown. Torak offers the boar and the willow to Forest Horse Clan. The Leader acknowledges Torak as bonekin after seeing his mother's medicine horn, but she refuses to let him cross into their land. She also tells him that the cure for the sickness lies at the Sea.[9]
- In Oath Breaker, she sides with her Mage and accuses Torak of being an Open Forest spy, recalling how he attempted to poison the Deep Forest two summers ago. Though Torak claims that he was trying to find a cure. Renn notices that her face was tattooed with holly leaves and her lips are green.[10] After Thiazzi's defeat, she brings the ash-haired woman to Torak to decide her punishment.[11]
Detlan's sister[]
- When Detlan, Bale, and Asrif return to Seal Clan, Torak spots a small girl clamoring for Detlan's attention, his younger sister.[4] She later cries in fear for her brother when he prepares to paddle to the Heights.[12] After Bale's death, Detlan's sister sobs as she provides him a small stone lamp for the Death Journey.[13]
Bale's father[]
- When Bale, Detlan, and Asrif return to Seal Clan, Bale's father, who greatly resembles his son, helps them unload their skinboats.[4] His father gives him an amulet of rib from the first seal he caught before Bale leaves for the Heights.[12] After his son's death, he guides his son's skinboat out to see where Bale can be reunited with the Sea Mother.[13]
Asrif's mother[]
- When Asrif, Bale, and Detlan return to Seal Clan, Asrif's mother scolds her son for misplacing a bundle of salmonskin that he traded for. She is shorter than Asrif.[4] Before he leaves for the Heights, his mother tells him to be careful.[12]
Bale's brother[]
- Islinn explains how Bale's younger brother died three summers earlier of the mysterious sickness before Tenris was able to formulate a cure.[4] Tenris later explains to Torak how he created the sickness and tested it out on Bale's younger brother, resulting in his death.[14]
Islinn's son[]
- Islinn explains how the sickness three summers ago had killed four members of Seal Clan, including his son.[4]
Soul Eater[]
Inuktiluk's brother[]
- At the White Fox Clan camp, Inuktiluk elaborates how an ice bear stole his seal, which causes laughter from the crowd. Inuktiluk's older brother laughs that the clan can still eat since he caught a seal earlier.[15]
Akoomik's younger son[]
- When Renn asks about the teeth marks on Akoomik's bone needles, Akoomik sourly replies that it was her son, who died a moon ago. She gestures towards a small bundle in wall of the shelter. White Fox Clan keeps their dead until spring to prevent foxes from eating them.[15]
Akoomik's older son[]
- Akoomik mentions how her older son disappeared on the ice.[15] Torak and Renn later find Akoomik's son helping the Soul Eaters gather sacrifices for their ritual so he can become one himself. He's around Torak's age, with the black nose tattoo of White Fox Clan, and a mottled sealskin with a hood. Torak and Renn catch him returning to the Eye of the Viper Mountain with an owl. Torak steals the owl and runs into the cave in hopes of rescuing Wolf.[16]
Akoomik's mate[]
- Akoomik adds how her mate died of fever in the Moon of Long Dark.[15]
Akoomik's mother[]
- Akoomik mentions how her mother felt death coming and left to meet to prevent taking food from everyone else.[15]
Nef's son[]
- Nef's son was born a year prior to Torak. She tells him how her son starved when prey fled the Forest. She attempted to die herself, but Torak's father saved her.[17]
Outcast[]
Boar Clan Leader[]
- The Boar Clan Leader is Aki's father. When Aki notices the Soul-Eater tattoo on Torak's chest, he informs his father. The Boar Clan Leader confronts Fin-Kedinn about it and demands Torak to be outcasted.[18] He later speaks with the Whale Clan Leader during the clan meet.[19] After the flood on Lake Axehead, the Boar Clan Leader calls for Torak's death, but his son Aki defends him. Fin-Kedinn names Torak his foster son, and only after Seshru is killed does the Boar Clan leader relent.[20] In Ghost Hunter, the Leader comforts his son when he cries out from the sickness. When Renn returns to Raven Clan, he offers to accompany her.[21]
Fin-Kedinn's former mate[]
- When Wolf Clan arrives for Torak, a women smiles at Fin-Kedinn, who puts his hand over his heart and bows.[22] Later, Fin-Kedinn tells Torak how he had a mate in Wolf Clan, but they parted once she realized that he was still in love with Torak's mother.[23]
Salmon Clan Leader[]
- Torak spots Fin-Kedinn speaking with the Salmon Clan Leader during the clan meet.[19] Later, Gaup rallies his Leader to attack the Deep Forest clans after the stole his daughter and chopped off his hand, but Fin-Kedinn negotiates for a more peaceful approach. He arrives to speak with the other Leaders for a truce.[11]
Whale Clan Leader[]
- Torak spots the Whale Clan Leader speaking with the Boar Clan Leader during the clan meet.[19]
Mountain pack male leader[]
- The male leader of the Mountain pack is a large, slate-gray wolf with a white blaze on his chest.[24] He and his mate rule the pack. The lead male allows Wolf to rejoin the pack when they find him near Lake Axehead, but the lead wolf warns Wolf that he cannot be of two packs.[25] After Torak saves Snap, Growler, and Digger from a lynx, the pack leader accepts Torak into the pack.[26]
Mountain pack female leader[]
- The female pack leader welcomes Wolf back into the pack.[25] When a lynx attacks the cubs, she is the first to rush into the camp and chase it away.[26]
Dyrati's mate[]
- Upon seeing Dyrati in Otter Clan, Renn recalls how she left Raven Clan to join Otter Clan with her mate in the previous summer.[27]
Twin Otter Clan Mages[]
- Otter Clan's Mages are two young twin children less than ten summers old. Both have long pale greenish-gold hair with pale skin. The boy's eyes are bright while the sister is blind. Yolun explains how the sister can see into the world of spirits. The sister probs into Renn's and Bale's minds while the brother interprets. Renn struggles to keep them out of her mind. The Mages allow Renn and Bale to pass through their land.[28] The Mages are later warned of the coming flood, allowing for Otter Clan to evacuate their camp.[29]
Oath Breaker[]
Gaup's daughter[]
- Gaup searches the Deep Forest for his missing daughter, who is only four summers old. Auroch Clan took Gaup in, but they chopped off his hand and accused him of stealing their missing children. He's determined to return back to his clan so they can rescue his daughter.[30] Thiazi had stolen her and planned to turn her into a tokoroth. Wolf and Darkfur find her and the other missing children in the sacred grove, but Gaup's daughter remained mute.[31]
Forest Horse Clan Mage[]
- Gaup explains how the Forest Horse Mage died of a mysterious sickness, and the new Mage found a dart on his corpse. Forest Horse Clan blames the death of their Mage on Auroch Clan.[30] Renn later learns that Thiazzi killed the former Forest Horse Mage.[32]
Auroch Clan Mage[]
- Before Fin-Kedinn leaves the Deep Forest with Gaup, he tells Torak to find the Auroch Clan Mage, believing him to be a good man.[30] The Auroch Clan Leader mentions how their Mage keeps to himself in his prayer shelter and doesn't see outsiders.[33] Thiazzi, the new Forest Clan Mage, claims that he's spoken with the Auroch Mage, who granted him his speaking-staff to return to the Leader. Thiazzi adds that he and the Auroch Mage have received dreams urging the Deep Forest clans to unite against the Open Forest clans.[34] The old man insists they must speak with their Mage before Torak can be sentenced to death for spying.[10] However, Renn realizes that Thiazzi killed the Auroch Mage and was posing as him.[32]

- Renn recalls how Torak's mother's father was from Oak Clan.[35]

Auroch Clan Leader[]
- The Auroch Clan Leader is a younger man with a scarred face. When Renn begs to drink some water, the Leader signals to a woman to provide her with some. He then tells her to eat and rest.[36] The bow master points out the Leader to Renn. He explains to Renn that their Mage keeps to himself.[33] Thiazzi returns the Auroch Mage's speaking-staff to the Leader as a sign of good faith.[34]
Auroch Clan bow master[]
- Renn describes this man as the ugliest and hairiest man she's ever seen. His scalp isn't shaved, but his hair and beard is covered with clay.[36] Renn asks if he's the Leader, but the old man explains that he makes the best bows in the forest. When Rip and Rek and Wolf arrive to Renn's summons to prove herself a Mage, the old man sides with Renn's claims. He cares for Renn's bow before they decide to leave the camp.[33] When the Deep Forest Clans call for Torak's death, the old man insists they should defer to their Mage first.[10] He later creates a new bow for Renn after Thiazzi destroys hers.[37]
Lynx Clan Leader[]
- Lynx Clan stays with Auroch Clan in their camp. When Renn speaks up about her capture, the Lynx Clan Leader demands to know who she is.[33]
Ghost Hunter[]
Boar Clan Mage[]
- Renn assists Boar Clan with the mysterious gray moth sickness caused by Eostra while their Mage is ill with fever. When Aki falls sick, the Mage tells Renn that two more have fallen with the same sickness, and he urges her to return to Raven Clan. He wears a spiral amulet.[21]
Juksakai's son[]
- Juksakai and his son accompany Torak, Renn, and Wolf to the Gorge of the Hidden People. Renn sits in Juksakai's son's dog sled.[38]
Dark's mother[]
- Dark explains to Torak how his mother told him how a white hare ran in front of her, resulting in Dark's albinism. His mother protected him for eight summers until his father abandoned him in the Gorge of the Hidden People.[39]
Dark's sister[]
- Dark explains to Torak how he speaks to ghosts, including his dead sister, whom he claims doesn't remember their kinship.[39] Later, Dark tells Torak that his sister joined the other souls for Souls' Night.[40]
