Mountain Clans are Clans who live in The High Mountains east of the Forest. They travel the mountains to follow the reindeer. They worship fire, because without it they would freeze to death. The Mountain Clans are:
- The Swan Clan.
- The Mountain Hare Clan.
- The Rowan Clan.
Additionally, they are careful with names (Ghost Hunter, chapter 18) and refer to various animals by epithets. According to Krukoslik, wolves are referred to as "ghost hunters" because "they stalk with such skill", and reindeer are called "the antlered ones". This is done to avoid drawing attention to the animal. The practice is similar to using a noa-name, seen in many European cultures.
